We are seeking an innovative Humanities teacher to join our dynamic team, who is dedicated to providing the best possible opportunities to our students. Park Lane Academy is on an exciting journey, as part of the South Pennine Academies Trust, and we are looking to continue this with your appointment to our team. We are looking for a Humanities teacher who can bring a range of humanities subjects to life, inspiring children to embrace Humanities and develop a passion for it. 

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering quality first teaching across Humanities (Geography and History); 
  • Show creativity and flare in planning of content to engage and enthuse students; 
  • To plan, prepare and teach the curriculum in line with statutory requirements and the academy‛s schemes of work. 
  • Support all Humanities students to achieve the best outcomes in every year group; 
  • Support, develop and coach students to become masters of their learning and drive their belief to achieve their ambitions; 
  • Set high expectations across the department and academy, supporting those high expectations through clear and impactful teaching; 
  • To monitor and assess students’ work, using assessments to inform planning and set targets that promote continuity and progression; 
  • To ensure the individual needs of the students are met through differentiated work, allowing for all to achieve; 
  • Work with parents to improve home-school communications, including setting those high expectations and standards with parents around their child’s progress in Humanities; 
  • Support the improvement strategy of the academy, by engaging in the high expectations set for the journey ahead and embodying the culture of the academy through the teaching role; 
  • Raise the profile of the academy key priorities (Pride, Respect and Ambition) through everything that you do. ·
  • To actively take part in professional development, sharing expertise and experiences as required

Park Lane Academy is a comprehensive school which welcomes students of all abilities, aged 11-16.  Our school building was opened in 2005 and was purpose built so that our students have an excellent range of facilities and an optimal learning environment.  

We are currently undergoing an exciting transformation through partnership with South Pennine Academies Trust http://www.southpennineacademies.org/ in a fantastic venture to further the development of the school through collaboration.
