Job overview

Lansdowne School is seeking to appoint two dynamic and innovative teachers to teach History, Geography and Religious Education across Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4, who have the vision, energy and passion to promote the highest standards of attainment for young people with SEND.

Both roles would involve working with secondary aged students and would suit  enthusiastic and aspirational teachers who are either primary or secondary trained.  While previous SEND experience or training is desirable, excellent teaching skills, interpersonal qualities and a genuine desire to put our students at the centre of their learning is of equal importance. This will involve planning and delivering a differentiated, personalised curriculum and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for all of our students.

Lansdowne is a vibrant special school for young people with autism and associated learning disabilities in Brixton, South London.  Our students range from 11-19 years of age and follow a range of curriculums including the National Curriculum, Life Skills curriculum and a range of outdoor learning activities such as Forest School and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

We seek teachers who have:

o A passion for teaching and learning

o Fresh ideas, energy and enthusiasm

o A commitment to special education

o A flexible approach

o A drive for continued professional development

o The ability to be an enthusiastic form tutor who is able to support a form group through guided reading and pastoral support.

We offer:

o A clear and shared vision

o Enthusiastic, happy young people who enjoy school

o A team of friendly, caring and hardworking staff

o The opportunity to make a real difference

o Specialist training in teaching young people with autism

o A purpose-built school which meets the needs of young people with autism or language delay/disorder
