Job overview

Seeking Humanities Teacher

The International British School of Bucharest is a small friendly, community-minded school, with a strong focus on whole pupil development. We have a team of staff who work together very well and enjoy spending time together outside school, often going on weekend and holiday trips together. Our students are generally very well-behaved and our parents are extremely supportive. In many ways IBSB is a dream school to work for, which is why staff turnover each year is generally less than 5%. Last year we did not recruit any new staff in the Secondary School. This year we are only recruiting two. So if you are looking for a good school to work for, this may very well be the school for you.

We are now actively seeking to appoint staff to the Humanities Department to teach two of the following subjects

  • KS3 Humanities
  • IGCSE History
  • IGCSE & A Level Business Studies
  • IGCSE & A Level Travel & Tourism
  • Possible HOD position available

To start 22 August, 2016 (INSETT Week: August 22-26). To start teaching Monday, August 29.

The successful candidate must an outstanding teacher, passionate about teaching one or more of the listed subjects, with strong classroom management skills, and a minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching the National Curriculum of England.

Requirements:

  • Positive outlook on life
  • A friendly person, with good communication skills
  • Evidence of outstanding teaching in subjects taught
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching to the National Curriculum of England and IGCSE/A Level Exams
  • For possible HOD position, minimum 4 years’ experience, with previous HOD experience preferred
  • Native English speaker
  • Clear DBS Check/Police Report
  • EU passport holder (Preferred)
  • 3 Positive references from previous schools

Additional requirements sort, but not essential:

  • Previous experience in international schools

Terms and Conditions of the appointment:
An initial 2 year renewable contract (2016-18) offers a competitive compensation and benefits package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
