Role Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a newly authorised IB World School. For our first small cohort of IB DP students, we are looking for a qualified maths teacher with experience in teaching DP mathematics (SL/HL). In the early stages of our journey as an IB World School, this teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering DP maths, as well as a "pre-IB" course focused on maths skills.

Rather than a standard teaching post, this position enables teachers to be more autonomous and lay the foundation of an "international maths programme", together with DP teachers and subject specialists. Through collaborative partnerships and formal IB Professional Development, it offers a unique opportunity to share - and learn from - best practices in maths education.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years teaching experience, preferably working with the IB Diploma Programme, and be committed to inquiry based learning. S/he should have a bachelor’s degree and hold a recognized teaching qualification. Due to restrictions with immigration laws s/he must also hold an EU passport or valid working papers for Italy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver IB DP Mathematics (SL/HL) in English and in line with IB's Approaches to Teaching and Learning
  • Develop and deliver a "pre-IB mathematics" programme to help students build up practical maths and problem-solving skills
    Desired Skills & Competencies
  • Use technology in (teaching) Mathematics (graphic calculator, software, apps, interactive whiteboards, etc.)
  • Support and work together with DP teachers and maths subject specialists to lay the foundation of a strong IB DP mathematics programme. Given the growing and developing nature of the school, flexibility is an asset
