IB Maths teacher- Year 7, 8 & 9

Part-time role of approximately 12 hours teaching time per week to include preparation/planning time to adequately fulfil the role. Ideally, Monday to Wednesday.

A fixed term contract most likely leading to a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate in depth and accurate knowledge and understanding of the curriculum, subject content and the developmental needs of students by providing relevant learning experiences that set high expectations that enable students’ use of higher level skills as appropriate.
• Regularly contribute to curriculum planning and development including interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary units of work and the development of trans-disciplinary skills and attributes of the IB learner Profile.
• Plan using the school’s curriculum, effective strategies and resources to meet the needs of all students ensuring that lessons are well planned with differentiating instructions, engaging content, planned learning is delivered and a love of learning is promoted. 
• Effectively engage students in learning by using a variety of differentiated instructional strategies to meet individual student learning needs, including help for students needing additional learning support.
• Systematically gather, analyse and use evidence to measure student progress and learning, guide instruction, provide timely feedback, inform own teaching and support curriculum development so that both students and the school achieve academic excellence.
• Use resources, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, positive, safe and student-centred creative and stimulating environment that is conducive to learning.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop teaching and learning resources for students at different levels to address the students’ learning needs.
• Include technology in the students’ learning experiences when it provides valid support to the process
• Maintain a commitment to professional ethics, international-mindedness, and LWS core values.
• Communicate effectively with students, school personnel, families and the community to enhance, promote, and advocate student learning.
• Ensure acceptable and measurable student progress through the setting of appropriate academically stretching goals, with progress being monitored throughout the year and end of year achievement of goals being assessed.
• Provide a safe and stimulating environment for students, rooted in mutual respect and modelling the behaviour required, to challenge and inspire students of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions.
• Give students regular feedback, both orally and written, and encourage students to respond to the feedback, reflect on progress.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelors degree in Education or other relevant degree with teaching qualification 
• Preferable, international teaching experience 
• Fluent in English (verbal and written) 
• An innovator, committed to learning and keeping up to date with current research 
• An inspiring, challenging, and empowering educator 
• Able to demonstrate creativity, compassion and a desire to make a difference in the learning of our children 
• Has experience of teaching KS3 
• Is committed to Safeguarding all children and young people as a key priority

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check in addition to other vetting checks and will also must be able to provide satisfactory references. All school staff complete Safeguarding training, both during induction and on an ongoing basis.

Please Note: Due to the outdoor element of the school there are physical demands of this role. The work is practical by definition and moderate levels of physical effort. It involves lifting and handling of training equipment, play equipment and other resources and to be involved in practical activities and physical care of learners and the environment. Activities are mainly out of doors and this will require walking and managing on uneven surfaces and in unpredictable weather conditions. You are required to be a role model for the staff and learners you work with, adhering to the Health & Safety procedures.
