Due to expansion, we are looking to recruit a full time MYP Coordinator to start in January 2022 or as soon as possible after.

The MYP coordinator, along with the school leadership team, will ensure that the school continues to deliver a world class MYP programme. They will achieve this through liaison with the IBO, overseeing the design and implementation of the MYP curriculum and overseeing professional development for staff.

While experience in a similar role would be an advantage, we will consider all applicants with at least 3 years experience of working in an MYP context.

In addition to shared responsibility for student learning the MYP Coordinator is accountable together with the Head of Secondary for the quality of the IB MYP Programme and is responsible for all MYP administrative procedures and other MYP-related issues as they arise to support this curriculum. The leadership position provides significant opportunities for professional growth and is a three-year renewable position subject to mutual agreement. 

The MYP Coordinator has overall responsibility for: 

1. Compliance

• Communicate with the IB regional office regarding programme evaluation visits and lead the school´s preparation for the visit

• Ensure that all rules and regulations, programme standards and practices, and procedures, are adhered to properly, and that all deadlines are met

• Maintain accurate school information via the IB information system (IBIS)

• Facilitate staff registration for My IB

• Liaise with the Business Manager over any costs pertaining to the MYP   

• Effectively communicate and update members of the ICS community with relevant aspects of the MYP programme

• Oversee the implementation of the published subject-specific assessment criteria  

• Prepare and update the school’s IBMYP publications  


2. Curriculum 

• Ensure that Grades 6 to 10 have a well-organized curriculum that is articulated with the IB Primary Years and Diploma Programmes. This includes ensuring that there is concurrence of learning between classes in the same subject and level 

• Ensure that the planning and teaching of the Global Contexts, Key Concepts, Related Concepts and Approaches to Learning of the MYP show a coherent development from Grade 6 to Grade 10 and are recorded as part of the written curriculum

• Ensure that the concepts of international awareness and international mindedness permeate all subject groups

• Ensure the effective implementation of the Academic Integrity policy of the school

• Develop an understanding of the other IB programmes to aid articulation of the curriculum and a continuum between the programmes  

• Counsel students when they are making their choices of MYP subjects and continue this counselling throughout the programme, ensuring all student information that relates to subject choices is recorded and updated

• Oversee course changes in Grades 6 to 10

• Oversee the running of the MYP Personal Project and Service as Action Programme in conjunction with the PP and SA coordinators

  

3. Assessment

• Oversee the implementation of the Grade 10 MYP Certificate eAssessments and ePortfolios

• Organize, in coordination with the Heads of Subject Group and IT, the IBMYP end of year examinations and eAssessments

• Support teachers in the development of assessment tools in line with the school’s assessment policy

• Provide assistance with the completion of assessment, recording and reporting as necessary. 

• Oversee the development and use of assessment results to inform curriculum review and development

• Analysing results following each MYP assessment session.

• Oragnise enquiries upon results on MYP final grades


4. Professional Development

• Act as a member of the PD committee and register MYP teachers for IB PD through the IB website

• Help orientate new members of staff to the programme and provide ongoing training for staff in new developments within the IB

• Identify, facilitate, and encourage professional development opportunities in relation to the programme 

• Engage individually and proactively with “My IB” to enhance professional capacity and promote the same with other members of the faculty

• Attend workshops and conferences as appropriate 


5. Parent communication 

• Deliver regular presentations to parents on relevant aspects of the MYP

• Be available to parents to answer questions or provide relevant information

• Develop printed material on the MYP for parents
