Job overview

LCIS is seeking to appoint a dynamic Biology teacher who will join our faculty in August 2020 and contribute effectively to advancing the quality and rigour of our academic program.  The  Biology teacher must carry out his/her professional duties in accordance with the philosophy, standards, and practices of the MYP and Diploma programmes and in accordance with the policies and procedures of Lyford Cay International School. 

Applicants must have a Bachelors Degree and a Teaching Certificate, and experience of at least three years teaching in Biology.  The school is particularly interested in teachers with:

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with an array of suitably targeted professional development courses.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience (overseas experience is particularly valuable)
  • Strong academic background in Biology
  • Experience and/or training with the International Baccalaureate programmes required
  • Experience with authentic assessment practices and inquiry-based learning
  • Experience with using a multi-cultural approach to promote learning
  • Ability to differentiate for diverse learning needs
  • Excellent computer skills and integration of technology into the curriculum
  • Ability to create a stimulating classroom environment and to utilise the local context and environment to enhance learning
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A passion for teaching and learning
  • Desire to be part of the school and its community by committing to its vision and mission
