Our Curriculum
Uptown is a provider of the International Baccalaureate curriculum - the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP)- we provide a seamless educational experience to students from age three to eighteen. The programmes are centred around the concept of developing internationally minded students who learn how to become better people and better learners. 

The Role

  • Lead the preparation and implementation of the IBCP accreditation process in accordance with IBCP Standards and Practices
  • Ensure that G10 students are given clear advice on phase 4 pathways and understand the demands and expectations of the IBCP
  • Ensure that students are fully prepared for all assessment requirements for the IBCP including examinations where appropriate (BTEC and/or other relevant tertiary qualifications)
  • Ensure that the school is adequately furnishing Emirati students with qualifications that lead to high school equivalency 
  • Ensure that the written, taught and assessed curriculum, across the IBCP, is relevant, engaging, in line with the philosophical and organizational requirements of the International Baccalaureate, Uptown School, Taaleem and the UAE Ministry of Education
  • Ensure collaborative planning is effective and efficient with regards to the IBCP
  • Ensure (along with other curriculum coordinators) that international mindedness and the IB Learner Profile are central to the ethos, operation and strategic direction of the school
  • Liaise with other curriculum coordinators to ensure that the written, taught and assessed curriculum are consistent and coherent across all sections of the school
  • Ensure that all key IB required policies are effective and regularly updated
  • Ensure staff teaching the IBCP are appropriately trained to effectively deliver the IBCP
  • Update staff on changes to regulations and practices relevant to the IBCP
  • Ensure      students are prepared for, supported through and compliant with the IBCP core that      includes approaches to learning, community and service, language      development and the reflective project

Key Skills

  • Excellent communication skills including high standards of professionalism in written and spoken English
  • Organised and works to deadlines
  • Strong IT skills including the ability to carry out calculations and data analysis in Excel.

Uptown is a Four programme IB World School from Nursery to Grade 12. Our Primary school has recently celebrated its seventeenth-year anniversary while our secondary school opened its doors ten years ago. We are an inclusive school who also cater to the highest attaining students, with three perfect 45 point scoring students in the past 4 years, and over 20% of students achieving 40 plus points. We have at our heart the belief that all students can be successful with the right mixture of time, motivation, and support.
