About Role


The IBDP Coordinator is a member of the School Leadership Team and works in close collaboration with the Deputy Head Secondary (Academics) in ensuring high quality learning and teaching throughout the school, especially Grades 10-12. They will also work closely with subject coordinators and University and Careers Counsellors to support students and teachers to maximize students’ attainment. 

The IBDP Coordinator will have the responsibility of ensuring the effective administration of the IB Diploma Programme. In line with IBO requirements, the IBDP Coordinator provides overall leadership for Pedagogy/Teaching and Learning in the Diploma Programme, and is responsible for overseeing all requirements, policies, procedures and practices for the IB Diploma Programme. The IBDP coordinator is also responsible for creating effective practices to monitor and support student learning across the IBDP Years G11-12 and the pre-DP G10 Pioneer Year programme. 

As an outstanding teacher, the IBDP Coordinator believes strongly in action research and is committed to participating in and leading professional learning and the sharing of best practise in a progressive bilingual education.

Post-holder Qualifications, Experience


Additional Expectations

•   Actively support the continuous innovation and the development of the Dehong curriculum

•   Teach lessons as agreed with the Head of Secondary (approximately 12 periods per week)

•   Lead and/or support a minimum of one (1) co-curricular activity 

•   Lead, attend and participate constructively in staff meetings

•   Lead and participate in assemblies, celebrations and extra-curricular events 

•   Lead and support service learning and sustainability practices, events and programmes

•   Collaborate with colleagues across Dehong schools and our Dulwich College International sister schools to share best practices across the network and participate in group-wide events as appropriate

•   Other teaching and learning related tasks as determined by the Principal

Qualifications:

(Essential for China Work Permit)

•   Bachelor’s degree in relevant/specialist subject area

•   Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent

•   Qualified Teacher Status in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, UK, USA

Skills/experience:

•   Mother tongue or near-native fluency in English

•   Minimum 3 years’ experience in teaching in IB Diploma programmes within Secondary school

•   Demonstrated success in working with Secondary school students 

•   Demonstrated success in a school leadership role

•   A strong understanding of progressive pedagogy

•   Effective planning and time management

•   Creative and effective use of resources, including education technology

•   Ability to maintain student focus and active engagement on learning

•   Positive management of behaviour

•   Strong, clear communication and listening skills

•   Adaptable to varying contexts and an enthusiasm for working with Chinese colleagues and parents 

•   Experience in working with EAL/ELL students 

•   Enthusiasm for curriculum study and development

•   Demonstrated experience in using a variety of assessment and feedback techniques

•   Demonstrated experience in raising achievement and setting aspirational targets
