Location:          Falkland House School, Falkland Estate, Falkland

Salary:             £32,994 - £41,412. per annum (pro rata)

Hours:             17.5 hours per week

Contract:          Permanent, Term Time only

We’re looking for an ICT/Computing teacher to join our School in Falkland, Fife. Someone with relevant experience of Autistic Spectrum disorder would be perfect for this role.

About the School:

Falkland House School is an in independent residential school for boys from primary to aged 18 years.  Our pupils have a range of Additional Support Needs including emotional and behavioural difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Disorder.  We were the first independent school in Scotland (outside of the NAS) to receive accreditation from the National Autistic Society.

About the Role:

We are looking for a dynamic and engaging candidate with a passion for teaching and learning. We work specifically with young people who have an Autism Spectrum Diagnosis in a unique learning environment which juxtaposes the grandeur of a country home with modern specialised teaching approaches.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering SQA qualifications in relevant courses and building upon pupil interests and skills in ICT and computing. You will be working within a small, supportive, education team who are committed to delivering specialised education to the highest standards. Whilst previous experience of working with Additional Support for Learning would be preferable we provide opportunities for training both internally and externally in order to support professional development.

Key accountabilities/responsibilities

• teaching small classes together with associated planning and preparation;
• developing the school curriculum;
• assessing, recording and reporting on the work of pupils;
• preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration;
• providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education;
• promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils;
• working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals;
• undertaking appropriate and agreed continuing professional development;
• participating in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review;
• contributing towards good behaviour management and the wider needs of the school.

Essential Criteria

• Must have full GTCS registration.
• ASL experience would be preferable but not essential.
