The Governors are keen to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable ICT Technician and VLE Manager to cover a maternity leave. The post will provide effective technical support to teachers and pupils and further support the development of our new VLE Firefly. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a difference to our virtual learning environment, so graphic design experience or creative flair will be required to ensure the success of our VLE for students, staff and parents. Candidates, although not required to have had experience of working in a school, should be willing to work in a very busy but happy environment.

You will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent IT knowledge
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with students and staff
  • Ideally experience of working with and developing a school VLE
  • A positive 'can do' attitude

Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy is an 11-18 comprehensive school in the north-west of Birmingham. Our student intake is from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, making for a very harmonious and happy school. Our Ofsted inspection in May 2014 graded the academy as Outstanding, stating that “the academy provides an exceptionally high quality of education, which results in students making outstanding progress.’

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
