The academy is based in Thamesmead in a purpose-built building. It is a needy and disadvantaged area where students deserve the life chances that a transformational school can provide. Our vision is clear: nothing is impossible and everything is possible, irrespective of personal characteristics or background. Every problem has a solution. We believe we are more robust, resilient and determined as a team than as a group of individuals. We support, challenge and hold each other to account at all levels within the academy to ensure that our students achieve their potential, are motivated, engaged and fully prepared for life beyond our academy.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and energetic ICT Technician to join our team.

This role will be based at Harris Garrard Academy and will be line managed by a member of the Senior Leadership Team at the academy. You will work closely with the academy's ICT Service Manager and the Central ICT team to provide an outstanding level of ICT support to the staff and students at the school.

There has recently been considerable investment in updating the central and local IT infrastructure at the Harris Federation, including a move to more virtualisation of both the server and desktop estate. The team currently provides support for over 25,000 users and over 12,000 endpoint devices.

What we are looking for:

  • Good knowledge and recent experience of Windows, IOS and related desktop products; Citrix, Virtual Desktops, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, Anti-Virus, Internet access and security solutions; creating login and emial accounts and administering distribution and security groups; and supporting Windows and Apple devices within an educational or coporate environment
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, backed by a clear, analytical approach to problem solving, and good written and spoken communicaiton skills
  • A self-motivated person with a can-do attitude and a strong commitment to team-work, who is able to handle the demands of working in a customer-focussed ICT support role
  • A proven ability to balance priorities and working to strict timescales to deliver results on time and to a high quality
  • At least two years’ experience in a similar, client facing role in a primary or secondary school
  • Ideally, relevant Microsoft or similar qualifications, and a good understanding of the ITIL framework, supported by an ITIL V2 Foundation qualification is desirable.
