Values & Vision

At Hodge Hill College, we believe that all our pupils can achieve if they have confidence, a clear focus, and actively participate in learning. British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance permeate college life, underpin our curriculum delivery, and support the high expectations we set for our pupils.

We have come a long way as a school. We are a 'good school' with good results, but we want even more for our pupils. That's why our focus is on pupil self-management and independent learning. Without these skills, our pupils will not achieve outstanding outcomes.

Our Ethos

As one of the highest-achieving schools in Birmingham, we work hard to get the best out of every one of our pupils. We believe in providing a structured and disciplined working environment which alongside a broad, balanced and innovative curriculum ensures pupils can fulfil their potential.

British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance permeate college life; they underpin our curriculum delivery and support the high expectations we set our pupils.

Everything that we do in school both as staff and pupils comes back to our CARE brand: Courtesy, Achievement, Respect and Excellence

British Values

British Values are an important aspect of school life which is incorporated into the school ethos and our CARE brand. They are reflected in our assemblies, thought for the day, and college displays.

Different year groups have undertaken numerous projects to explore this theme and communicate it to the entire college population. Furthermore, external agencies have been invited to provide training on INSET days to ensure that staff are fully aware of what they should be promoting.

Our state-of-the-art facilities provide pupils with the best possible opportunities to succeed. We believe that success can only be achieved through continued partnership with parents and families to ensure that all pupils fulfil their potential.

Ofsted Report

“Behaviour is good. Pupils are polite and well-mannered. They work hard and socialise well together.”
