Runnymede College is a private non-denominational British school in Madrid offering a British education to boys and girls of all nationalities from the age of two to eighteen. The education offered follows the British National Curriculum.

Founded as a private school in September 1967, the primary school was inaugurated in 1987, and since 1990, the whole School has been situated in La Moraleja, a residential estate 13 km to the north of Madrid.

Academic levels are high at Runnymede College. In June 2021, 74% of our students achieved A-A* at A Level, which meant two of our pupils gained places at Cambridge, two at St Andrews, three at LSE, four at Imperial College, five at Bath and nine at UCL. Four of this year’s graduates are going on to study at the United States: one at Colombia, one at Pennsylvania and two at Boston University. Most of our graduates choose to study in the UK, Spain or the US, although other destinations such as France, Switzerland and the Netherlands are also considered.

The school is looking to recruit an outstanding IELTS Coordinator to join the Senior School English department. This is a part time role with 12 periods of 40 minutes per week. Ideally the candidate will already be based in Madrid for an immediate start.

Runnymede College’s thriving English department is looking for a well-qualified, enthusiastic IELTS Coordinator. We are seeking to appoint a creative English Language specialist who is committed to achieving the very best for VI Form pupils studying this essential component of their curriculum. The successful candidate will be able to engage and motivate pupils using effective and interactive methods of teaching, including ICT.

There may be scope for the right candidate to teach non-IELTS components of the English curriculum in the future.

The successful applicant:

  • will have a good honours degree from a British University
  • will have a PGCE or equivalent relevant qualification for teaching IELTS, such as advanced level CELTA or TEFL
  • requires familiarity with IELTS exam structure and exam-day organisation, as well as ability to adapt to possible COVID changes
  • will independently impart a pre-prepared curriculum with all resources & links included
  • will liaise with Runnymede Exams Officer
  • will adapt to blended learning & use of technology
  • will be a native level English speaker
  • will possess valid references, and have an up to date CRB/DBS check

Other preferable but not essential criteria:

  • Previous experience of an international school
  • Interest in teaching PSHEE would also be advantageous.

About Runnymede College

Runnymede College is a private school that provides a British education for English-speaking students of all nationalities who are resident in Madrid.
