About the school

International School of Seychelles (ISS) is a leading private day school in the magnificent location of the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean.

· ISS is a co-educational non-profit school founded in 1969. The school itself is located on the island of Mahé, on the outskirts of the nation’s capital Victoria. The school is owned by the International School Association, run by parents of children in the school.

· The school is recognised and licensed by the Ministry of Education in Seychelles.

· The school’s motto is ‘you are not born for yourself, but for the world’.

· Teaching is based on a British curriculum. We have around 20% expatriate pupils and 80% Seychellois pupils.

· ISS teaches from Early Years to Year 13, and has over 1000 students from 30 nationalities on the school roll. There are 28 students in each class. The school operates mixed ability classes for all year groups, with the exception of English and Maths in KS3 and KS4.

· The International General Certificate of Education (IGCSE) is taught in Years 10-11 and Advanced Level (A level) is taught in Years 12-13. Examinations boards used by the school include Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel and Oxford AQA. The school prides itself on academic excellence, with many of its students going on to study at some of the most prestigious universities in the world.

About the work opportunities

The school seeks to appoint qualified, enthusiastic and flexible teachers. Applicants should be committed and outstanding teaching practitioners, able to lead by example, possessing excellent teaching, organisational and communication skills.

We seek individuals who can apply a committed and common-sense approach to education, such that it achieves outstanding results and happy children. The role requires an individual who has high expectations of what children can achieve and how they can behave.

Although teachers are assigned to a specific section of the school (Primary, Secondary, Inclusion), as an all-through school we are seeking someone who is excited about the opportunities such a school creates, keen to work with staff in other sections to ensure a joined up approach to the curriculum and a seamless transition across the key stages.

Applications for vacancies at ISS should be made via the ISS application form (available from the documents in the job advert), and include a supporting statement as well as the details of referees, one of whom should be your most recent employer. Completed applications should be emailed to vacancies@iss.sc (applications submitted on the TES website will not be considered).

Interested applicants should review the job description, the other documents on the advert, and ensure their supporting statement highlights their experience and impact to date, why they want the job and what impact they would expect to make.

Please refer to the closing date for the relevant advert. However, online interviews and online lesson observations / recruitment tasks may commence immediately from the date of advertising. Early applications are therefore encouraged, as the school reserves the right to appoint before this deadline if the right candidate is found.

If you have not been contacted within 2 weeks of the deadline for the relevant advert, you should assume that your application has not been successful on that occasion.

Successful teaching applicants are then eligible to apply for positions of responsibility available at the school. This is an annual internal process; applications are welcome from current staff as well as newly appointed staff.
