About Southwark Inclusive Learning Service (Sils)

SILS is an alternative education school for 11-16 year old students majority of whom have been excluded from mainstream schools, because of difficulties with their behaviour or conduct.

SILS has been consistently judged to be a Good School by Ofsted (2012, 2015) and the staff are a dedicated team, working together to deliver the best outcomes for students.

SILS operates on two sites across Southwark South London.  The KS3 and Day 6 provision is located on Davey Street, a few minutes walk to Peckham.  Whilst the KS4 site is on Porlock Street, between Borough and London Bridge Station.

SILS works in partnership with Southwark Local Authority and mainstream schools to deliver full time education for its cohort of 'hard to place' students.   An ethos of respect and high expectations underpins every aspect of school life.  Our students know they are safe and secure at school; and our vision is to inspire them to develop and grow into confident resilient responsible young adults.

Our vision is achieved through flexible creative approaches to the curriculum, strong pastoral support and therapeutic interventions.  Our collaborative partnership with professionals and families helps to deliver improved outcomes for our students.

100% of students leave SILS at the end of year 11 with GCSEs and an accredited qualification; and up to a third of our KS3 students are reintegrated to mainstream schools annually.

SILS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and we expect all staff to share this commitment.   Also, all positions require enhanced DBS clearance and we welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.

SILS is a great place to work and learn, and we welcome visits from prospective applicants by appointment.
