Job overview

Sibford School is a co-educational, independent day and boarding school for children aged 3-18 based on the edge of the Cotswolds. We have a large campus with a wide range of facilities available to our pupils. We offer excellent pastoral care, small class sizes alongside a diverse education that builds a strong foundation for learning, while encouraging our students to learn about themselves and the world around them.

We were proud to be rated excellent in our December 2021 ISI report; for both the quality of pupils’ academic and other achievements and for the quality of pupils’ personal development.

Sibford School has long been known for its expertise in supporting pupils with additional needs with approximately 30% of each year group having some identified additional learning needs.

We are seeking an Inclusion Teacher to join our team from September 2023. Our expectation is that the successful candidate will develop and grow within the existing department to help it continue its role in supporting school life. The candidate will work within the Learning Development Centre, teaching pupils in a small group or a 1:1 basis.

“Pupils display advanced moral development”

This role is significant in Sibford school. We aim to be national leaders in inclusive teaching and learning for our pupil community. This role is to provide teaching and expertise in this already well established and key department.

“The school successfully meets its aim to provide pupils with a thirst for lifelong learning”

The successful candidate will have QTS for secondary school and/or a Level 7 Diploma in Assessment and Intervention, be able to demonstrate great communication skills and be skilled at building relationships across the school with creativity, confidentiality, and a sense of humour.

“Pupils are confident decision makers”

You should have KS3 – 5 evidence based interventions for those with SEN, a commitment to educational excellence, handle pressurised situations with energy, enthusiasm and a positive outlook, be a team player with an ability to develop and to sustain relationships and empower others.

Sibford School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

The School welcomes staff that share and understand our commitment and we ensure that no job applicant is treated unfairly by reason of a protected characteristic as defined within the Equality Act 2010.

Salary: Competitive

Employment benefits include a 34 week academic year, a teachers’ contributory pension scheme with life assurance, free parking on site, free school lunches provided on working days, free use of swimming pool at allocated times, cycle to work scheme, generous Fee Remission discount available on school fees and an Employee Assistance Scheme.

Closing date for applications: Monday 12th June 2023 by 5pm.

Interviews date: Thursday 22nd June 2023.

We reserve the right to close prior to this date should sufficient applications be received.

Sibford School is set in more than 50 acres of grounds and is surrounded by glorious Oxfordshire countryside.

Established in 1842 as a co-educational boarding school for the children of Quaker families, Sibford has, from the outset, been a centre of educational excellence.

Over the years the school has undergone many changes and developments, as it has adapted to meet the needs and aspirations of its pupils. However, the Quaker values that seek to recognise that of God in everyone have remained constant. Translated into everyday life, this means valuing and nurturing individual talents, respecting each other and helping each individual to become the very best they possibly can.

Today Sibford School accommodates both day pupils and boarders and is currently home to over 430 pupils aged between 3 and 18. We are privileged to be a varied and international community and welcome children of all faiths and none and from many different nations.

Sibford is an academically strong school. We achieve excellent results at GCSE and A Level and aim to cultivate a thirst for life-long learning. We have a well-established reputation for enabling pupils with a range of learning requirements but we are also passionate about the long-term mental health and emotional well-being of our pupils. At junior level, this means giving them space and time outdoors to enjoy their childhood. And, as they get older, it means helping them to become rounded, community minded, confident and respectful young people.

Our enviable location means that outdoor learning forms an important part of our junior, and, increasingly, our senior curriculum.
