Independent Living Tutor

The Gateway Programme is delivered on the Sunfield grounds, consisting of 58-acres of farms, gardens, and woodlands, and in the community through practical and experiential activities. The programme is registered through Glasshouse College and Gateway team will liaise closely with the programme lead at Glasshouse College in Stourbridge.  The post holder will work as part of team of learning assistants, led by a tutor, and will work closely with the residential home manager of the residence of learners, located on the Sunfield site. 

An exciting opportunity has become available to work as the Gateway programme Independent Living and Practical Skills Tutor supporting the learning and development of post- school age learners (16-25years).

The key duties associated with this role are;

• To design and deliver a high quality, individual, craft and land programme to learners in the Gateway Programme.
• To deliver learning programmes through practical and experiential activities in the natural environment and in the community
• To work closely with the Learning Assistants to quality assure the use of PSTE in session planning
• To ensure that learner realised their potential to be part of and contribute to their community

The successful candidate will have:

• Have a good working knowledge of the monitoring, assessment, recording and reporting for young people. 
• Experience of working in an environment housing young people with learning difficulties, disabilities and special needs.
• Line management / supervisory experience
• The ability to deliver educational activities and specialist training in a manner which is stimulating, engaging, enjoyable and enthusiastic.
• Exceptional verbal communication skills
• A High level of personal resilience
