Applications are sought for the following position:

INDIGENOUS EDUCATION WORKER

Temporary/Part time, 13 hours per week for 2020

6.5 hours per day (Days negotiable)


DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

▪ General teacher assistance, organisation and resource preparation

▪ Working with students

▪ Assistance with playground duties

▪ Leading Cultural Group Experiences with students

▪ Liaising with parents and local community organisations


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

▪ Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (must provide proof)

▪ Must hold a current Working with Children Check clearance


SELECTION CRITERIA WILL FOCUS ON:

▪ An understanding of and commitment to Catholic ethos and values

▪ Ability to work as a member of a team

▪ Sound literacy and numeracy skills

▪ Ability to lead cultural groups

▪ Knowledge and appreciation of the ways students learn

▪ Sound ICT competency

▪ Preparedness to work with small groups of children


The Indigenous Education Worker will also act as a role model for students by encouraging them to take pride in all aspects of their schooling.

Holy Family School, Skennars Head is K-6 a Parish primary school servicing the East Ballina and Lennox Head areas in Skennars Head, New South Wales. The Parish is situated within the Diocese of Lismore.

The school was established by Richard Foley in 1997, whose vision was that it would be “a place where everyone is seen as a person created in the image of God and treated as a person of unique and enormous value." 

The school is set in a beautiful environment and its community is active in planting native trees and enhancing the school grounds.

Holy Family School prides itself on proving all the tools conducive to 21st century teaching and learning. These include interactive whiteboards, iPads, iPods, scanners, digital cameras, lap tops, flat screens, memory sticks, wireless technology, and learning areas.

Curriculum

The school provides a curriculum based on the Board of Studies and Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES) syllabuses for Primary Education. The Key Learning Areas (KLAs) are English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Human Society and its Environment, Creative Arts and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education.
