Job overview

Ref No 1510

The Harris Federation is a dynamic, successful and growing group of Academies and a not-for-profit charity with almost twenty five years’ experience of education in and around London. We have built our reputation on a family of Academies that, across the board, are setting standards of excellence and fulfilling high expectations. We are a Federation rather than a chain, where each school is led autonomously and has its own unique character and ethos.

This role will be part of the Infrastructure Team and will provide outstanding level of ICT support for the Primary, Secondary, 6th Form staff and students and Central Federation staff. The role will work closely with the ICT Service Managers and the Academy ICT Technicians. This role reports to the Head of Infrastructure Services.

You will effectively design, manage and support the entire infrastructure across the group including Academies and Data Centres. Enable Group ICT to provide an excellent IT Service in line with ITIL principles to our customers. Ensure the Infrastructure is stable, secure and resilient. Provide Technical Design Authority services to all projects. These roles are very much hands on and must have a broad knowledge of many of the systems HarrisNet is based on.

Along with the other members of the Infrastructure team (3rd line) these roles have the responsibility for the design, support, operational management, monitoring and maintenance of all ICT systems and infrastructure across the Harris Federation.

Responsibilities include:

  • To ensure that all incidents and requests are logged appropriately on the Service Management system
  • To ensure that incidents and requests are resolved within the target resolution time and are documented within the system.
  • Project management of the delivery of Infrastructure improvement projects. Also to act as a project team member on other projects run by other members of the Group ICT team.
  • A number of years carrying out a similar highly technical role designing and supporting a wide range of systems
  • Experience of supporting systems in the educational sector
  • Excellent Experience and knowledge of Local and Wide Area networks are essential.

This is not exhaustive and should be read in conjunction with the Candidate Information Pack

Closing Date 20/06/2016
Interview Date 16/06/2016

Harris Academies are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

The Harris Federation is a not-for-profit educational charity with almost 25 years of education experience in and around London. Our primary, secondary, all-through and sixth form academies have an international reputation for delivering a step change in education standards.

In joining a Harris Academy, you will be working with some of the country’s most exceptional teachers, support staff and leaders. There are frequent opportunities for internal exchange and promotion; our CPD is regularly described as Outstanding; and we have a package of staff benefits that rivals the most competitive of other professions.

Each Harris Academy is led and run by its senior leaders and has its own curriculum and way of doing things. What our Academies share, however, is a commitment to giving their children and teenagers an excellent education within a happy, caring and supportive environment.

There are Harris Academies in many different settings – inner city and suburban – but they are all within a maximum ninety minute commute from each other. This enables a highly collaborative structure, with on-call support from the Harris Federation.

You can find out more on our website (www.harrisfederation.org.uk) or by following us on Twitter (@HarrisFed).
