Instructor and Assessor in the Motor Vehicle Department.
Responsible for: The delivery of City & Guilds 3902, Practical Motor Vehicle Systems to Entry Level 3 and Level 1 to Diploma Level. As well as ABC in Motor Vehicle studies to Entry Level 3 and Level 1.
Salary: £18,000 to £22,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
Qualifications: Qualified Motor Mechanic, time served apprentice. City & Guilds or B’Tech or equivalent.
Preferred but not essential: A teaching qualification.

Main purpose of the post:
To be fully conversant with City & Guilds 3902 qualification and its delivery structure. To work in partnership with the Vocational Co-Ordinator (Voc Co) and the QAC to ensure that all key stage 3 and 4 learners have a high quality of learning experiences and are appropriately supported to reach their full potentials. To assess and internally verify pupil and Assessor work. To promote excellence in professional practice with all staff, to ensure the smooth running of the vocational department and its resources. To work effectively and cooperatively with all staff. To ensure the needs of SEN pupils are met and ensure the schools strong behaviour structure is fully implemented. To act as the Lead Assessor for the team and to ensure that all the assessments are in line with City & Guilds criteria and requirements as well as with national and school requirements. To teach and deliver City & Guilds and ABC units which enable our learners to gain quality qualifications. To work with the Voc Co, on the day to day running and delivery of the Motor Vehicle courses.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities.

  • To provide academic leadership in the Motor Vehicle department, designing appropriate programmes of study to ensure learners gain appropriate qualifications.
  • To plan the daily sessions to ensure the smooth running of the course.
  • To support curriculum development under the direction of the Voc Co across the team.
  • To develop new ideas and strategies to ensure learning takes place for all learners.
  • To manage assessment and to ensure that it models and reflects best practice and meets the requirements of the awarding body and the Voc Co.
  • The post requires a TAQA level 3 or equivalent if none is held then it must be gained ASAP. This will be supported and paid for by the employer.
  • To undertake teaching, learning and assessment as appropriate.
  • To support the development of the staff by mentoring and coaching where required and to identify and share best practice in teaching and learning.
  • To ensure that all course documentation and course quality systems conform to school and awarding body as well as Voc Co requirements and are produced in an accurate and timely manner to the Voc Co.
  • To take responsibility for behaviour management of learners.
  • There will be instances when there are no learners from a particular group who are taking the MV course you will then be expected to help out in the Building and Construction Department (BCo) department; working alongside the other qualified Assessors and Instructors.
  • The BCo department runs the 6219 Basic Construction Skills Entry level 3 and Level 1. A good general background would be an advantage in this subject however; on-site training will be given by the rest of the team if necessary.

An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required by all candidates. The expense will be met by the school.
