Job overview

South Lincolnshire Academies Trust is seeking to appoint an inspirational, highly motivated and enthusiastic Teacher of Art & Design to cover a maternity absence at Bourne Academy.  The successful candidate will teach across the age range, including examination groups.

This is initially a 1-year 3 days per week maternity contract however for the right candidate it is possible that future opportunities may arise across the Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful Trust that fully celebrates and supports the Arts - our commitment and strength in this area has recently been recognised by the Arts Council England who have awarded the Arts Mark Platinum.

All students study Art and Design in Year 7 and 8 for one hour.  The subject is optional in Year 9 where students increase their study to two hours.  In Year 10 students can select to study general Art and Design or specialise in Three Dimensional Art or Textiles Design, increasing study to three hours per week.  We are regarded as a centre of excellence for our vocational qualifications and this can be seen in the outstanding outcome in terms of results.  The subject remains popular in our vibrant sixth form with students studying Level 3 BTEC Art and Design at our Bourne Academy site, a course which sets our students up with an excellent skills set to move into higher education. We are regarded as a centre of excellence for our vocational qualifications and this can be seen in the outstanding outcome in terms of results.

We welcome applicants from all Art specialisms and the successful candidate will have:

• Instructor / Qualified teacher status;

• The ability to teach Art and Design up to KS4;

• The opportunity to teach Art and Design up to KS5;

• The ability to motivate students and achieve excellent results;

• Excellent organisational and ICT skills;

• An awareness of effective assessment and use of data to track student progress;

• The capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team;

• A passion for the subject and the ability to share this with young people.

The Trust offers exceptionally pleasant working environments.  All Trust school sites offer a calm and safe place, where staff and students work hard, achieve a great deal and enjoy excellent working relationships.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all its staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  All post holders are subject to satisfactory clearances prior to taking up an offer of employment.
