St Pius V, Banyo, situated 14kms north east of the CBD and 10 minutes drive from the airport, is a co-educational primary school established in the tradition of St Mary of the Cross Mackillop, with a current enrolment of 500 students. Our learning environment is state of the art with modern, contemporary classrooms conducive to learning. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Instrumental Music Tutor to educate our students as part of the School Instrumental Program. You will be required to teach group lessons to primary school students. You will need to have relevant qualifications and/ or experience as a Multi-Instrumental teacher as well as substantial experience in Violin / Cello.

Days and hours for this position will be negotiated depending on student numbers. At this stage it will be for 7 hours on 1 day per week.


To be successful in this role you will:

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

Position Tenure:  Fixed Term

Weeks Worked:  School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term):  2022 school year

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required: 7 hours per week (1 day per week to be negotiated_

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate: Brisbane Catholic Education agreed Instrumental Music Specialist award rate

Employment Conditions: Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement

As from 23 January 2022 all BCE Schools will be an environment where all employees are fully COVID vaccinated as directed by the Queensland Chief Health Officer.

This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
