The School

The International School of Siena is focused on facilitating a meaningful education which is based on high achievement and inquiry based learning. The school consists of small classes, one class per grade. Our IB programmes provide each student with opportunities to explore, inquire and develop confidence as well as equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and understanding necessary for the 21st century.

Our school is currently located in a 17th century villa in the Tuscan countryside just outside of Siena.  This is an exciting phase in our development as we are constructing a new school facility which includes a spacious indoor gymnasium, well designed classrooms, Drama studio, Libraries and Science labs which we will be ready for September 2018. Wi-Fi is enabled throughout the campus to support the school’s 1:1 learning project, with every student having access to a personal tablet or laptop.

We are fully authorised to deliver both the International Baccalaureate Primary Years and Middle Years Programme (www.ibo.org) and we are a candidate school for the IB Diploma which we expect to begin teaching from September 2019.

The Position:

We are seeking to appoint a teacher of Integrated Humanities and History to join the secondary school team.  The ideal candidate would be interested in teaching across the entire secondary school age range and have an interest in helping foreign learners of English become truly bilingual. For suitable candidates, there may be the possibility of additional responsibility as we implement the IB Diploma programme from September 2019.

The initial contract will be for a period of two years, after which there may be the possibility of converting the contract into a permanent position of employment.

Essential characteristics:

  • to be in possession of a university degree in a related subject and an appropriate teaching qualification;
  • to have had recent experience teaching the subject within the 11-19 age range;
  • to be a fluent English Speaker
  • to be an EU passport holder or already be in possession of a valid visa that enables to work in Italy.

 

Previous experience with IB programmes is not required and official IB training will be offered, together with relocation assistance.
