We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic colleague with a strategic and innovative mindset, to join our Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Headteacher. You will have responsibility for managing the School Finances and generating income for the school, as well as managing support functions across the school and our administrative systems and processes. You will provide support for the Governing Body, facilitate the day to day running of the school, and will manage a team of staff and external service providers.

We are seeking candidates with wide ranging experience in relation to school finance and the ability to provide an on-going programme of training and support. The John of Gaunt School is committed to Safeguarding and would expect candidates to have some working knowledge of Safer Recruitment and Health and Safety legislation.

The successful candidate will:

  • have a good understanding of financial policies and procedures
  • have excellent interpersonal skills
  • have proven financial experience in a school including in completion of year end accounts
  • have experience of using budget planning software
  • be a strategic financial planner and thinker
  • be able to use their own initiative with excellent time management skills
  • enjoy working in a fast paced school environment, dealing with both long-term and ad-hoc requests as they arise
  • be able to work constructively with external service providers and agencies
  • be supportive and hardworking as part of a team
  • be willing to contribute to the overall ethos, work and values of the school
  • understand changing educational policies and statutory guidance including DfE, EFA and Ofsted requirements
  • have experience of School Governance and working with a Governing Body

The John of Gaunt School is a fully comprehensive Academy for students from the ages of 11 - 18 years with 1117 students on roll. We are currently a single Academy and actively promote collaboration with our feeder primary schools through Collaborative Schools Ltd and the West Wiltshire Alliance.
