SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:

Oversight and coordination of all IB related activities including community alignment and project, teacher training, program of inquiry, scope and sequence and unit development, and student evaluation.

 The role of the IB Coordinator is to plan and oversee the implementation and management of the program. Through coordination with subject teachers, principal, and IB regional office, the coordinator is responsible for the full delivery of the curriculum including documentation, reporting, analysis, and evaluation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The following outlines what your core duties and responsibilities will be for this position and provides a sample overview of what your day-to-day may look like.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

·      Assume responsibility for the implementation and development of the curriculum within the spirit of the school’s mission statement

·      Serve as a member of the Academic Leadership Team helping to develop the strategic plan, leading the accreditation and five year review process when appropriate

·      Initiate professional training programs that will enable the teaching staff to successfully introduce and develop the IB programs in their classroom successfully; the trainings will include professional learning communities, inter-disciplinary unit development, and current pedagogy and assessment practices

·      Provide instructional leadership to individual teachers through mentoring, peer support, goal evaluations, and team-teaching opportunities

·      Develop policies that are aligned with the values of IPS and the IB; such policies will include language, assessment, inclusion and academic honesty

·      Ensure IB requirements are met by developing interdisciplinary units, syllabus outlines, scope and sequence (pacing) documentation, project frameworks, and the integration of global contexts

·      Attend parent, grade level and program meetings, host informational sessions, attend and lead job-a-likes, and visit partnering schools and businesses

·      Assist in scheduling processes and timetabling; work with students on course selection and enrollment

·      Assist in recruiting and retaining of students by visiting IPS feeder schools, attending recruitment affairs and conducting open presentations

·      Communicate with all shareholders (students, parents, teachers, administrators, district personnel) regarding IB procedures, requirements and policies, events and opportunities, and current progress of the programs via meetings, letters, blogging, submission of articles to school newsletters, and additional publications.

·      Lead the IB evaluation and reauthorization processes; provide leadership and guidance during the planning and development for the implantation of the program.

·      Facilitate presentations, productions, competitions, events and/or activities as appropriate that showcase student learning and achievement (specific expectations to be detailed during the interview process)

·      Work collaboratively with other coordinators to ensure continuity of program.

“Day In the Life” Overview

On a regular day, as the IB Coordinator, you might:

●     Meet with the Pedagogical Leadership Team (PLT) (principal, coaches, leads) to plan for Faculty Professional Development.

●     Review with the Leads and Assistant Principal to identify teachers needing additional support with their unit plans. Schedule time to meet with teachers during their prep to meet and share resources for Unit Plan creation.

●     Work with Toddle (Learning Management System) to align teacher comments with student performance and growth preparing for grade reports to families.

●     Using Critical Friends protocol facilitate rounds, observing instruction, and soliciting feedback from peers aligned with the Approaches to Teaching and Learning.

●     Review next week’s Advisory lessons affirming alignment with Approaches to Learning skill of the week and learner profile alignment.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

●     Experienced IB teacher at the respective level of instruction (PYP, MYP, CP, DP).

●     Preferred but not required, International Baccalaureate® educator network (IBEN).

●     Valid State of Indiana Teacher’s License.
