We are seeking a motivated and supportive team player who is keen to maintain and improve the progress of our students. This would also be an ideal role for candidates who may be keen to pursue a career in teaching and see this role as an opportunity to gain valuable experience in education to then go on and train to be a teacher.

Successful candidates will be expected to cover lessons for absent teachers, work as a keyworker for vulnerable students, undertake small group intervention, support in homework club, do lunchtime duties, if possible run a fun club for students and be involved in other extra-curricular activities and support students in the classroom working alongside teachers. The successful candidates will join a large team of staff and be given full training.

Waingels is a very successful 11 to 18 Comprehensive school serving its local community. Our successes and achievements can be attributed to our commitment to establish and grow a Better Never Stops culture, providing a safe, inclusive and rich learning environment where students feel safe and valued, founded on respectful relationships for all. Our ethos and culture are values based. We set high standards and expect all our students and staff to be respectful, kind, resilient and proud of our school, our achievements and our community.

Our values underpin our “Waingels Ready” expectations that we have for everyone within the Waingels community. These expectations form the basis of everything we do, and everything we believe in as a school and as a community.

We are very pleased with our recent Ofsted feedback (February 2018) and how it has endorsed the achievements, improvements and direction that we are travelling in. Ofsted noted that:

- Waingels “continues to be a good school…where standards are rising rapidly”

- Staff feel that they are “valued as their opinions are considered when reshaping practices” and that “people have the courage to try new things and we share success”

- “Pupils behave well in lessons and have a good attitude towards learning”

- “As a result of improvements that leaders have implemented, standards are rising rapidly”

 We are also very proud of the achievements of our students. Under the new measures our students at Key Stage 4 made very good progress. Their Progress 8 score of +0.32 places us in the top 20% of schools nationally. We achieve 74% 9 to 4 in English and Maths, 87% achieved a grade 4 or better in English and Maths were in the top 8% nationally.  At A Level, our Progress score of +0.31 places us in the top 5% of schools nationally. We are delighted that the vast majority of our students stay on to our Sixth Form and that 97% of our leavers gain a place at University or choose to enter apprenticeships and employment.

If you feel your values and ethos align with ours, this is an exciting opportunity for you! We are looking for someone with energy and vision that is ambitious for themselves and the young people of the school. You will have a growth mindset and believe in offering dynamic learning across Key Stages.

Working with us offers you the opportunity to;

  • Join a positive school where effort and success is celebrated
  • Engage in excellent and personalised professional development opportunities
