Job overview

Due to growth and expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic Intervention & Inclusion Specialist to join the team. 

Main Responsibilities  

  • To provide targeted intervention and support to students who struggle to manage their behaviour and/or approach to learning in class.
  • Plan and deliver small group and one to one intervention programs.
  • Collect and interpret assessment data gathered on pupils with SEMH to inform practice, target individual difficulties and to measure impact.  
  • To work collaboratively within the school and external agencies across the school, to meet the needs of these students, whilst also mitigating the impact that they have on the learning and progress of others within the classroom environment. 
  • Work with staff, students and parents/carers to ensure realistic and challenging expectations of progress, attainment and achievement is set for students with SEMH difficulties.  
  • To provide in class, one to one and small group support to students, to ensure that the needs of students with behaviour difficulties and/or SEND are met. 
  • To provide positive play opportunities for SEMH and students with behaviour difficulties during break and lunch times. 
  • In collaboration with the SENCo ensure there is a calm environment for students to deescalate and to learn. 
  • Attend Annual Review and multi-agency meetings as appropriate. 

Key Skills & Experience 

  • Experience of working with young people who are vulnerable and/or who have special educational needs is essential. 
  • Experience of delivering intervention to small groups of students or on a one to one basis would be beneficial 
  • Ability to assess, record, monitor and report on the progress of learners is essential 
  • An understanding of safeguarding issues is essential
  • Relevant NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification would be beneficial
  • An understanding of the current provision for students with special educational needs and current developments in SEN would be advantageous
  • Sound educational background including GCSE’s in Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent.
