IT & Computing Teacher - Royal Junior School 

Job Specification:

 The teacher will report to the Head of the Junior School and will be responsible for the education and welfare of pupils in accordance with the requirements of ‘Conditions of Employment’ of School Teachers. They will have due regard to Safeguarding requirements, Health and Safety legislation and the School’s aims and objectives, as well as appropriate School policies. 

Computing Responsibilities 

Curriculum: 

a) To update schemes of work as required in line with the School’s curriculum policy. 

b) To implement the teaching of all aspects of the subject and promote pupil learning in EYFS (Reception), Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. 

c) To keep abreast of any new subject developments. 

d) To liaise with Class Teachers to develop cross-curricular links in Computing lessons. 

e) To employ differentiation both for pupil ability and pupil learning styles. 

Staff: 

a) To support colleagues in their use of IT, where appropriate. 

b) To attend appropriate in-service training. 

c) To ensure that in the event of absences, suitable work is set for classes. 

d) To participate in the school’s Performance Development System. 

Pupils: 

a) To provide work that caters for all levels of ability throughout the School to ensure the achievement of the highest possible academic standard. 

b) To mark work, assess and feedback to children promptly.

c) To liaise with the SENDCo regarding individual pupils needs.

Administration:

a) To attend parent and staff meetings and other meetings as may be required.

b) To evaluate/assess individual child performance based on the learning objective of the lesson and keep an up to date record in the teacher mark book.

c) To contribute to half termly Progress Reviews and end of year reports.

Extra-Curricular Activities:

a) To initiate and run a club or other out of School activity to foster pupils’ interest in Computing.

b) To run Homework Club or participate in After School Care cover as required.

The teacher appointed should be:
