Job Title: IT/Computer Science Teacher

Location:  The Greater Horseshoe School, Heathfield TQ12 6RH

Salary:    £30,000.00 - £37,000.00 per annum

Hours:   40.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract:  Permanent, Term Time only

Purpose of the Role

To provide high-quality teaching and effective use of IT resources to enhance learning outcomes across all key stages, with a special focus on delivering the best education for every student, including those with social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The role demands a strong ability in Computer Science, aiming to develop the IT department as a flagship within the school.

Key Responsibilities 

*       Develop and implement a comprehensive Computer Science curriculum tailored to students with SEMH needs, focusing on both theoretical and practical aspects of computing.

*       Identify and deliver educational outcomes across all key stages in Computer Science, including basic computer literacy, coding, software development, and cybersecurity.

*       Engage students in developing digital skills that support broader educational goals, including problem-solving and logical thinking.

*       Establish the IT department as a leading program within the school, contributing to its development and recognition as a flagship department.

*       Assess, adapt, and improve teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of all students, including those with additional challenges.

*       Create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that fosters students' social and emotional development alongside their academic skills in IT.

*       Maintain effective communication with parents and carers, involving them in the educational process and updating them on progress and achievements.

*       Collaborate with school staff to integrate IT across other subjects and support the overall technology infrastructure of the school.
