The Role
We are seeking an inspiring and motivated IT Coordinator to lead, develop, and monitor high-quality IT provision across Years 1–8. This role places a strong emphasis on improving teaching practice, driving curriculum innovation, and ensuring excellent pupil outcomes in IT and Computing.
In this role, you will:
Lead the strategic development of a coherent, progressive IT curriculum across Year 1–8
Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment in IT
Support and coach colleagues through modelling best practice, professional dialogue, and targeted support
Monitor standards through lesson observations, learning walks, and pupil voice
Analyse attainment and progress data to inform planning and raise standards
Promote the effective and consistent use of digital technologies across the curriculum
Ensure continuity and progression across Pre-Prep, Prep, and Senior School phases
Contribute to whole-school self-evaluation, inspection readiness, and quality assurance processes
Foster an inclusive approach, supporting pupils of all abilities including EAL, BML, and SEND learners
Engage with parents to support understanding of IT learning and pupil progress
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
A recognised teaching qualification (B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent)
A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
At least 3 years’ experience teaching IT/Computing
Experience teaching across Primary and/or lower Secondary
Strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment, and progression in IT
Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous professional development
Desirable
Experience within a British curriculum or independent school setting
Experience leading or supporting colleagues, or a clear aspiration for leadership
Familiarity with I/GCSE IT or Computing pathways
Experience working with EAL, BML, or SEND learners
Previous international teaching experience
The Ideal Candidate
This role is particularly suited to candidates who have experience teaching IT across Primary and lower Secondary phases and are looking to progress into a Subject Coordinator role within a high-performing independent school environment.
The successful candidate will:
Demonstrate a strong passion for integrating engaging and subject-specific IT and Computing skills across Years 1–8
Have a genuine interest in curriculum design, inquiry-based learning, STEM education, and assessment for learning
Show a desire to develop expertise in academic strategy to support the growth and success of IT within the school
Possess a solid understanding of, or willingness to develop knowledge of, the English National Curriculum, Key Stage 3, and I/GCSE IT and Computing pathways
Have emerging or established leadership skills, with the ability and ambition to coach, mentor, and support colleagues
Demonstrate an appreciation for data analysis and its role in improving pupil outcomes
Be reflective, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement in teaching and learning
Be an excellent communicator and collaborator, with strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness
Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents, contributing to a culture of high expectations and professional learning
Have experience teaching diverse learners, including those with EAL, BML, or SEND, or a strong willingness to develop in this area
