John Henry Newman Catholic College is seeking an experienced and versatile IT Helpdesk and Theatre Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support to our staff and students while managing the technical aspects of our theatre productions and lettings. If you have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a love for the arts, we want to hear from you!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance and support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Respond to IT support tickets promptly, ensuring timely resolution of technical problems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems and software applications.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining the IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, CCTV and telecommunications systems.
  • Collaborate with the production team to understand technical requirements for theatre productions.
  • Set up and operate audio-visual equipment, lighting systems, and other technical components during rehearsals and performances.
  • Maintain and repair theatre equipment, coordinating with external vendors as necessary.
  • Create and maintain documentation for IT systems and procedures.
  • Train users on the proper use of hardware and software applications.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to implement and enforce IT policies and security protocols.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in providing technical support in an IT helpdesk environment.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software applications, operating systems (Windows, macOS), and networking protocols.
  • Familiarity with audio-visual equipment, lighting systems, and theatre production technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for theatre productions and events.
