Job overview

We require a well-qualified, experienced, highly motivated individual to fulfil this demanding post. The school depends upon the use of IT by around 140 staff and 850 students to support administration and engaging and challenging teaching and learning in the classroom.

The purpose of the role is to deliver and support transformational IT services throughout, including procurement, providing a helpdesk service for hardware, software and network-related problems, print management, CCTV and access control systems and control of the internal telephone network (refer job description for listing of software/hardware). You will be autonomous in this role but will benefit from working closely with the Trust Central IT Team.

The school will expect you to keep up to date with new technologies and work collaboratively with both teaching and support staff and advise senior leaders on all aspects of IT.

You will need to be able to work effectively with all members of the school community, students, administrative and teaching staff. You will also have line management responsibility for the Reprographics Technician.

The person appointed will ideally have experience in an educational environment although this is not essential.

The role will require a degree of flexibility which may include providing remote support outside normal working hours.

We can offer you:

  • An emphasis on staff wellbeing and free access to external support agencies if needed.
  • Free eye test vouchers for all staff.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • Very modern facilities, set in acres of grounds, located in a leafy suburb of Southend-on-Sea.

Our ethos is focused on ensuring all of our students achieve their full potential. The School’s focus on achievement is the same as at every Partnership Learning School. The atmosphere is disciplined and rigorous but also happy and caring.

This is a public facing role and the successful candidate must speak fluent English.

Please note that the school can only consider completed Application Forms returned directly to the email address below and not CVs alone.

The School reserves the right to appoint a suitable candidate before the closing date.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by close of play on Tuesday, 19 December, 2023.

In line with the statutory guidance “Keeping Children Safe in Education", the school will conduct searches for information on shortlisted candidates which is publicly available on-line.

Southchurch High School is an amazing place to learn and work and our philosophy of ‘a community of opportunity, learning and aspiration’ sits at the centre of everything we do. Our belief is that people achieve the best outcomes when they enjoy what they’re doing, feel safe and are rewarded for their commitment and success. We therefore support and invest in our students and staff, whilst maintaining high expectations.

The school sits in five acres of land and has first class facilities for both students and staff. We recently moved into our new purpose built block, which was completed last year and we have just seen the completion of a brand new four court sports hall. These developments have helped to give the school a very positive future.

The school is located in a quiet suburb of Southend-on-Sea and benefits from excellent transport links. We are within easy reach of Chelmsford, Brentwood, Colchester and London.

Our students, of course, are at the heart of what we do and it is essential, whatever position you are applying for, that you relate well to children and young people. The students at Southchurch High School are a pleasure to work with; they are keen to learn, talented and well-behaved. Our school is oversubscribed and has a waiting list.
