The Smith Foundation is a non-for-profit registered charity providing specialist education, care, and therapeutic services to children and young adults experiencing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The foundation focuses on delivering outstanding education and care to help these individuals reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line support across all Foundation sites in line with SLAs
  • Troubleshoot and maintain hardware, software, and network infrastructure
  • Set up and configure IT equipment including PCs, laptops, printers, and mobile devices
  • Administer and support iPads and educational technologies
  • Monitor and manage user accounts, device security, and system updates
  • Maintain accurate records including asset registers and ID access systems
  • Uphold IT policies, data protection, and GDPR compliance

Qualifications

  • Experience of supporting IT systems and users in a workplace environment.
  • Experience of working with Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and common hardware (e.g. printers, laptops, projectors)
  • Experience with network infrastructure (e.g. switches, cabling, Wi-Fi access points)
  • Experience managing or supporting IT asset inventories
  • Proficient in MS Office and Windows
  • Understanding of computer systems, networks, and common software applications
  • Familiarity with Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive
  • Understanding of cyber security principles and data protection (e.g. GDPR)
  • Educated to Level 4/5 or Grade C in English and Maths

Desirable

  • Achieved or working towards an entry level IT certification
  • Previously worked in a school, college or education setting providing support to teaching staff & students
  • Awareness of safeguarding procedures in an IT context
  • Full UK driving licence or ability to travel between sites if required


The position is initially a six-month fixed-term contract, however has the possibility of extension for the right individual.
