We are a prestigious Independent Boarding School, and our current strategy is to recruit a full-time IT Systems Manager for an initial fixed term contract. As the IT Systems Manager, you will develop the IT Systems and act as the IT ‘go to’ specialist for the school in terms of deployment of new strategic initiatives under the guidance of the Director of ICT. This role would suit an individual with a strong understanding of IT infrastructure and applications.
You will work with school stakeholders at all levels to ensure that they have access to IT systems that support the delivery of high quality services leading to the achievement of the school’s objectives and targets. This is a hands-on role and you will be responsible for managing the IT systems alongside our other well qualified IT technicians. The post holder will be required to utilise their diverse technical background, and experience of working at all levels with Microsoft, Cisco and VMware technologies, to plan, design, configure and maintain the entire organisation-wide IT estate which is spread across twin sites.
To be considered for this varied and rewarding role you must be able to demonstrate not only advanced technical knowledge and relevant qualifications but also the capability to represent our school professionally and to maintain the highest levels of customer service. This position would be suited to someone who wishes to engage in a layer of management – but who is also keen to keep their skills up to date with a taste for new initiatives. A schools environment is very diverse and fast moving and it is essential that you have the personal skills to cope with a wide ranging audience.

You:

- Report on support issues, identifying patterns and suggesting appropriate use of new technology to remedy where necessary
- Provide out of hours support as part of a team rota system
Your Key Technical Skills should be:
- 3 Years’ experience in a similar role and sized organisation
- Experience working with multiple sites Virtualisation (VMware)
- Backup (Veeam)
- Microsoft Windows 7/8, Windows deployment using MDT 2013
- MS Windows Server,(2008 R2, 2012 R2);MS SQL (2005, 2012);MS Exchange (2010/2013);MS Remote Desktop
- MS System Centre; MS Office Suite including 365 deployment and setup alongside MS SharePoint Technologies
- MIS deployment and development
- Daily working knowledge of Active Directory and Group policy deployment
- Meru Wireless Provision – Access point setup and deployment
- xDSL, Fibre, Mobile Data
- Development of Cloud Technologies in relation to storage online and impact on local network provisioning
- Apple iPhone/iPad Enterprise Use, rollout and deployment across the School with I Tunes U knowledge and set up
- A working knowledge of Apple Mac networking
- Disaster Recovery Deployment and set up – using both Cloud and NAS technologies
- Creation of Technical Documentation and Project Management Reports
- VPN deployment
