Job overview

As the Harris ITE provision grows, we are looking to hire a committed and confident Communications and Innovations Officer to support the Harris Initial Teacher Education team.

HITE operates out of Harris Academy Bermondsey. You will be based in this location to provide an outstanding level of Communications (via our infobox), ECT and School Direct support to the HITE staff, trainee teachers and link with external agencies. There may be times where ECT events take you to other locations.

About Us

HITE offers outstanding Initial Teacher Training (ITT) to graduates and career changers joining the teaching profession. Trainee teachers will have access to invaluable training, school and classroom experience to equip them with the knowledge, skills and expertise needed to become an excellent teacher. HITE also offers Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and support to ECTs across our academies.

Main Areas of Responsibility

The purpose of your role will be:

Communications:

  • To demonstrate excellent communication with all stakeholders regarding ITE and Apprentice training, assessment and support;
  • To implement the School Direct/ITE Policy and process in line with DfE requirements as laid out in the ITT criteria.
  • To liaise with the Federation as required and ensure the Academies are compliant in all areas with reference to the ITT criteria and the partnership agreement.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders and all external parties including university links, UCAS, DfE and Ofsted.
  • To respond to enquiries from potential new trainee teachers; UCAS and Federation SD administration; trainees, host academies, mentors and potential applicants;
  • To ensure all emails in infobox are dealt with each morning and regularly throughout the day. To ensure a requisite depth of knowledge of all ITE processes and innovations is maintained alongside solution-focused responses which are suitable for the particular situation.
  • To ensure deadlines are communicated to trainees, Apprentices and mentors
  • To ensure agreed policies for communications are established and maintained.
  • To ensure that all ITE policies are updated as required and sent to Central HF for ratification.
  • To broker partnership liaison with NASBTT and the OIA to ensure all compliance measures are met and policies are inclusive and robust
  • To respond to any ECT Induction queries (historical) and find solutions for induction anomalies.

Innovations

  • To lead a strategic initiative and support the ITE Business Manager with setting up all aspects of a new programme – teaching apprenticeships.
  • To claim / release / pass / update Apprenticeship records on the portal
  • To set up and then maintain the database of Apprentice data including assessment grades.
  • To producing appropriate communication protocols for Apprentices.
  • To organise and prepare Apprenticeship training
  • To evaluate all training and keeping a clear record of the data.
  • To produce data for the Head of ITE to use at strategic level.
  • To ensure HITE and HF websites are set up and then regularly updated with regard to Teaching Apprenticeship offer.
  • To communicate effectively with all stakeholders as appropriate, including enquiries from potential trainees, existing trainees, mentors, Apprentices and alumni
  • To instigate offers of schools outside of HF as placements – this will require support form other HITE roles to ensure marketing and recruitment in particular is sufficient; liaison with the Teaching School Hubs to market to schools outside of Harris.

Qualifications & Experience

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above, and, ideally an undergraduate degree
  • Other relevant Level 3 qualifications
  • Professional management qualification (desirable)
  • At least a year working in school or educational establishment;
  • Experience of working to targets and deadlines;
  • Experience of developing admin policies process and procedures.
