JAMES ALLEN’S GIRLS’ SCHOOL

JASSPA Contemporary Dance Teacher - Maternity Cover From September 2017  -  June 2018

Saturdays during term time

Maternity Cover: up to 5 classes on Saturdays from 9am.

Salary: £40.70/hour. Approximately 4.5 hours of classes.

JAGS Saturday School (JASSPA) is a performing arts school based at James Allen's Girls’ School in Dulwich, South East London. It is a thriving centre with 450 pupils from 80 schools taking classes in Contemporary Dance, Drama and Music, as well as offering specialist music courses during the major school holidays. JASSPA’s Saturday courses aspire to excellence and professional standards for all participants.

Applications are welcomed from outstanding teachers with 3 years professional dance training and 2-3 years experience of taking weekly classes for pupils aged 4-16. In the autumn term classes are technique based; from the spring term the focus is on choreographing showpieces for summer shows. The style of dance does not need to be strictly contemporary; a certain openness and crossover of styles are welcome, but a strong combination of technique and creativity is essential. There is an onsite, purpose built theatre and all classes except Jasspa’s under 6’s perform in annual shows. Availability on all term time Saturdays is essential; please see our website for typical term dates. It is also essential to be organised and committed to teaching.

We Offer:

• A competitive salary

• A diverse benefit package including parking, gym membership and free lunches

Please visit our website www.jags.org.uk/about-us/employment/ for application information or contact our HR Coordinator at Salome.osibogun@jags.org.uk or at James Allen’s Girls’ School, 144 East Dulwich Grove, London SE22 8TE. Letters and CVs only will not be accepted.

For further information about Jasspa visit www.jasspa.org.uk

Closing date: Friday 7th July, 2017.

First round interviews:  from Tuesday 11th July; shortlisted candidates will be called back to take one or two classes in early September.

Jasspa is an equal opportunities employer registered charity number 1124853

JAGS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with former employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
