Mencap deliver a range of programmes for supporting people with a learning disability to move closer to the job market and gain employment.

In our Lifestyles and Work team we have a programme called Employ Me that aims to support people with a learning disability to gain the skills, knowledge and experience to progress into paid employment

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and self-motivated person to join our Employ Me London project. The project is funded by Greater London Authority (GLA) and  European Social Fund (ESF) until June 2023. The project will provide individually tailored support for young Londoners aged between 16 to 24 with a learning disability and who are Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET). Young people will benefit from intensive support and assistance to achieve sustained education, training and employment outcomes.

We are looking for a full time (37.5 per week) Job Coach to support the delivery of this programme. We also are recruiting a part time Job Coach for 15 hours each week.  The role will be based a Mencap's Centre of Engagement in Central London with an expectation that some travel across London boroughs will be required. 

You will provide 1-1 support to young people in the workplace, and in their progression into education and training opportunities, ensuring the achievement of key skills and experience leading to sustained employment, training and education outcomes.


Key skills and requirements (essential):


Experience of supporting people

Experience of providing job coaching support

Knowledge of supported employment

A-C/9-4 English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent)

Have an interest in and desire to know more about learning disability

Adaptable to work in range of environments

Effective/accurate record keeping and reporting

Professional conduct and attendance
