Join a well-resourced Science department where you will be valued for your expertise and passion. As an engaging and motivated Senior Physicist, you will thrive on working within well - resourced laboratories and two dedicated Physics labs. With a cohesive team of 10 Science teachers, and a full-time and part-time technician, as Physics specialist you will drive our Scholarship program and teach a subject extremely popular amongst our boys.


New design concept Science facility is scheduled for completion in December 2024.


The successful applicant will be required to support the Special Character of the college, be committed to excellence, and participate in the school’s co-curricular programme. Position start date can be negotiated.


The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position will be in accordance with the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement (CA):

The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $51,358 - $90,000.00 depending on applicant’s qualifications and experience. Individuals’ actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.


An opportunity to meet our Headmaster who is currently on sabbatical is offered when he visits the UK in June to quality and experienced teachers of Science - Physics.

Sacred Heart College is a boys-only, Catholic secondary school with sixth form situated in Glendowie, a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. The English language Independent school educates approximately 1,250 students between the ages of 11-18. Students work to the National Certificates of Educational Achievement (NCEA) and available courses cover the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

Sacred Heart officially opened in June 1903, inspired by the Marist Brothers of the Catholic Church, whose values still inspire the school today. It opened at its current site in June 1995, a time when it was hosting a school roll of 250. An example of recent refurbishment was the 2013 construction of a new school hall.
