About the Role

An excellent opportunity exists for a Junior Geography/RE Teacher to join our dynamic team at Hennessy Catholic College, Young. To be successful in this role, you will have well-developed self-management skills and the personal capabilities of self-reflection, integrity, resilience and emotional maturity. You will also have the passion and expertise to work individually and collectively with students, to maximise the learning outcomes for each one, including those with additional learning needs. (There may also be the possibility to teach across a range of subject areas).

Essential Criteria

  • An understanding of and commitment to the Church’s mission in Catholic education and the capacity to contribute to the spiritual and community life of the school;

  • A sound knowledge of the Australian Curriculum with the ability to organise, select and design content for effective teaching and learning;

  • Relevant qualifications and professional experience;

  • Classroom management and organisational skills that create supportive and safe environments including managing challenging student behaviours and meeting a variety of learning needs;

  • Successful planning and implementation of teaching programs;

  • A comprehensive understanding of assessment and reporting strategies and the need to provide effective and timely feedback to parents and students;

  • The capacity to be a proactive member of a professional learning community complying with legal, administrative and professional requirements;

  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills so as to engage positively with colleagues, students and parents;

  • Commitment to continual improvement by taking responsibility for personal and professional accountability.

To teach Religious Education in a Catholic school (to be an Religious Education Teacher), an employee must:
• Have completed 6 undergraduate subjects or 4 postgraduate subjects
• Must be Catholic
• Must have completed, be due to completed, or have a willingness to complete Accreditation D – Teach Religious Education in a Catholic school

This position involves work in a NSW school.  The appointment of successful applicants is subject to compliance with Public Health (COVID-19 Vaccination of Education and Care Workers) Order 2021.  By 8 November 2021, individuals who are appointed to a position in a NSW school are required to have either received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, or have obtained a medical contraindication certificate in a form approved by NSW Health. Individuals are required to present evidence of either their vaccination status or a medical contraindication certificate to their school to be able to work in a NSW school.
