We seek an experienced and well-qualified Junior School practitioner to give professional leadership to developing and maintaining high-quality pastoral care and safeguarding practice, working closely with the Senior and Whole School pastoral teams to ensure continuity of practice. The post holder will act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Junior School and as the E-safety Coordinator. In addition the Assistant Head Pastoral will contribute to the strategic direction and development of the school, including the development, implementation and monitoring of school improvement plans based on school self-evaluation. Previous experience of teaching within a British-style school is essential as is familiarity with pastoral and safeguarding practices within such a setting.

To comply with Egyptian employment law, applicants must have Qualified Teacher Status and a MINIMUM of three years post-QTS teaching experience.
The British International School, Cairo (BISC) operates a similar teaching scale to schools in the UK which increases with teaching experience. All salaries are tax free and paid in Pounds Sterling. The current basic salary for a teacher with three years’ experience is £34,560 p.a. while the salary of the majority of staff is just under £40,000 p.a. This position comes with an enhanced responsibility allowance reflecting the seniority of the position. In addition all teachers on an overseas contract benefit from rent-free, furnished accommodation, private BUPA Gold health insurance and annual return travel to the UK. For teachers with school-aged children, there is full fee remission for the first two children.
