We seek an experienced and well-qualified Junior School practitioner to give professional leadership to developing high quality teaching, learning and professional development in the Junior School. Person Specification

  • graduate with qualified teacher status and significant leadership experience in school;
  • clear evidence of willingness to continue learning and developing as a reflective practitioner including;
  • enthusiastic and innovative teacher with a genuine passion for learning, who can motivate and inspire staff and students;
  • proven ability to effectively lead and work with a team in a collaborative manner;
  • committed to contributing to a holistic approach to education;
  • recent experience teaching the National Curriculum for England;
  • practical experience of leading professional development in a school context;
  • meets our CHILD PROTECTION and SAFEGUARDING requirements in full.

To comply with Egyptian employment law, applicants must have Qualified Teacher Status and a MINIMUM of three years post-QTS teaching experience.


The British International School, Cairo (BISC) operates a similar teaching scale to schools in the UK which increases with teaching experience. All salaries are tax free and paid in Pounds Sterling. The current basic salary for a teacher with three years’ experience is £34,560 p.a. while the salary of the majority of staff is just under £40,000 p.a. This position attracts an enhanced responsibility allowance. In addition all teachers on an overseas contract benefit from rent-free, furnished accommodation, private BUPA Gold health insurance and annual return travel to the UK. For teachers with school-aged children, there is full fee remission for the first two children.
