Job overview

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced and motivated professionals for the fixed-term, full time position of Junior School Teacher at our Kew campus for the duration of Semester 2, 2018.

This is a Parental Leave position for the duration of Semester 2, 2018.

Carey’s Junior Schools at Donvale and Kew are vibrant, busy and welcoming. In both of our Junior Schools, learning is an exciting journey. Our inquiry-based learning approach and tailored curriculum allow each student to develop at their own pace, providing the challenges, encouragement and support every child needs to succeed. Our Junior Schools offer a broad range of activities and personal development programs to promote wellbeing, creativity and confidence. Students also engage in community service, leadership and social justice programs, learning the importance of respect, understanding, inclusion and a strong moral compass.

To support our students in their learning, we run a 1:1 iPad program throughout our Junior Schools. Students learn how to harness this technology as a tool and how to behave online in a safe, responsible and ethical way. Library, LOTE, Art, Music and Physical Education are important parts of the program, and are all taught by specialist teachers in purpose-built facilities. A formal transition program for both Donvale and Kew, introduces Year 6 students to life in Middle School and supports them as they embark on the next important stage in their education.

Applications close 4pm Friday 4 May 2018.

About Carey Baptist Grammar School

Founded in 1923, Carey is a co-educational, independent, Christian school for students from 3-year-old Kindergarten to Year 12.

At Carey, our students will always be at the centre of everything we do. Our open entry policy, commitment to maintaining a whole-school 50:50 gender ratio and inclusive ethos create an environment in which all of our students have the opportunity to flourish.

Based on three central pillars — a diverse and challenging student-centred curriculum, a broad range of co-curricular activities and an active, positive approach to wellbeing — a Carey education is about helping every student to be the best they can be in all areas of their life. We work in partnership with families to develop wise, independent, resilient and motivated young people who will engage with and lead in their local, national and global communities.
