Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled teacher to join our Pre-Prep Department (Reception to Year 2). The post would suit any teacher who is dedicated and keen to work in a friendly environment with delightful boys.
The post is initially for two terms from January - July 2022.
Whilst Pre-Prep is very much a part of the whole school, the staff in the Pre-Prep Department ensure that the boys are secure and confident as they start their school careers. The boys benefit from dedicated Form Teachers together with some specialist subject teaching during these formative years. All classes are mixed ability, individual needs are met through small group work, differentiation and classroom support.
The Pre-Prep Department
The Pre-Prep Department is in a purpose-built building comprising of nine classrooms and its own enclosed playgrounds. There are up to three forms in each year group; each class has a Form Teacher who takes full responsibility for the academic and pastoral needs of the class (approximately 14 boys). The Form Teachers deliver most subjects, although there is specialist teaching in subjects such as art, music, drama, sport and French. The Pre-Prep Department share Teaching Assistants across classes to support the learning of the boys.
The staff work closely together on all aspects of their work. We have a mix of experience in the Pre-Prep with some long serving staff alongside more recently qualified teachers.
Job details – a brief outline
The basic outline of the post is given below; the list is not exhaustive but is intended to give applicants a good indication of the responsibilities of a KS1 Form Teacher. Currently the Form Teachers cover the traditional core subjects, but the class has specialist teaching in French, drama, music, art and physical education.
The main areas of responsibility will include:
