Job overview

Wickham Court School is a family-based, co-educational preparatory school with an outstanding reputation, which places the careful, nurturing and rounded education of the children in our care at its core.  We encourage impressive results from happy children for a fee, which we strive to keep accessible to many. We will always remain true to this philosophy whilst striving to constantly improve what we deliver.

We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to work with our Year Six students to help prepare them for Senior school life.  Year Six is a crucial year for all students, as they reach the top of the Prep school, undertaking roles such as Prefects and House Captains whilst also preparing for the transition to Senior school that follows.  Our teachers are dedicated and caring, and our school has a strong sense of community.  Our students thrive in an exceptionally positive learning environment and enjoy many museum visits, theatre trips and activities to enhance their learning.

Our classes are small and our teaching very much tutorial college style, we aim for our pupils to leave us as confident, happy, articulate and enthusiastic individuals. The key quality we are searching for is the ‘wow factor’ in the classroom – can you grab the attention of the whole class and keep it whilst delivering outstanding teaching to each child?  Are you prepared to think carefully about how to enhance your lessons, your classroom, and your pastoral care?  Do you have the passion to ‘roll-up your sleeves’ and ‘get stuck-in’ in every aspect of our small school?  If you do, we’d like to talk to you.

Key qualities:

  • Truly exceptional KS2 Teacher
  • Ambition and vision for developing our school
  • Able to motivate and develop a class of learners.
  • The ability to teach Music or Science would be desirable
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Solid understanding of schools and commitment outside the classroom
  • Entrepreneurial and autonomous approach
  • Experienced and outstanding teacher

Closing date: 10am on Monday 20th May 2019

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. The successful applicant will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check and references. We are an equal opportunities employer.

About Wickham Court Preparatory School

Wickham Court Preparatory School is an independent, co-educational day school for children from Nursery through to Year 6. Located in West Wickham, Kent, Wickham Court is proud to offer an amazing education, within a historically and culturally rich setting.

Our pupils are energetic, engaged, and happy; they benefit from the skill and expertise of dedicated, experienced teachers and small class sizes.

Wickham Court not only provides valuable and practical learning tools but also opens many doors and windows to the wonder that is a private education. Wickham Court reflects the sense of tradition and timelessness associated with education itself, but it also profits from the best of modern texts and technology. Most importantly, it profits from the life and the energy that our children bring with them.

Our Ethos

Our school not only provides valuable and practical learning tools but also opens many doors and windows to the wonder that is a private education. Wickham Court reflects the sense of tradition and timelessness associated with education itself, but it also profits from the best of modern texts and technology. Most importantly, it profits from the life and the energy that our children bring with them.

We believe small classes and individualised attention for all our pupils is essential for learning to flourish and we recognise that education is very much a partnership between pupils, the school and families.

Finally, while our focus is certainly academic in nature, we are committed to educating the pupils as a whole and indeed, to helping our pupils understand the importance of responsibility, compassion, fairness and honesty in all their endeavours.
