KEY STAGE 2 TEACHER

Are you an imaginative and highly-motivated teacher?

Would you enjoy making a difference to our children’s learning through enquiry led and cross-curricular projects alongside specialist teaching in English and maths?

Wandsworth Preparatory School is a small, one form entry independent school for boys and girls aged 4 to 11. We believe that, from an early age, children should enjoy a breadth of opportunity to develop their ability, interests and potential in a nurturing, warm and secure environment. We see ourselves as a family school with unfailing emphasis placed on the happiness of each child. Academic standards are high and we believe it is equally important to offer our children a rich educational experience and a nurturing atmosphere. We want each child in our care to feel personally valued and to think of us as their second home.

There is specialist teaching in music, sport and languages throughout the school and English and maths at Key Stage 2 to prepare our children for the crucial exit exams they take to a variety of senior schools in Year 6. We are also a Forest School throughout the Key Stages.

Alongside a rigorous English and maths curriculum which prepares our children for success in 11+ exams, what has become somewhat of a hallmark of the school, is the enquiry-led curriculum. We also value the use of integrated i-pad ICT to enhance learning experiences. We are, therefore, seeking to appoint a highly talented, motivated and happy Key Stage 2 teacher to join our team in September 2018 to provide stimulating lessons and outstanding learning experiences for children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. The role entails working alongside specialist teachers in English and maths, focussing primarily on teaching the foundation subjects, which are taught through an enquiry-led and creative curriculum. The role would also entail working as part of the teaching team to prepare learning showcases.

The successful candidate will be able to create a high-quality learning environment in which children are passionate about learning, have high expectations and a belief in celebrating every child’s individual talents. Maintaining high standards of planning, assessment and record keeping, and effective communication with staff, parents and children are essential.

Experience of or an interest in assuming the coordination of ICT would be desirable but not essential. The position is part-time, 0.8 but could be a full-time role if the successful candidate were able to lead Forest School sessions across the age range.

Please send a completed application form, which must include a full employment history with explanation of any gaps, and details of two referees, to Maria Major, School Secretary, at maria.major@wandsworthprep.com

CLOSING DATE: 25th May 2018

INTERVIEW DATE: week commencing 4th June 2018

If you would find it useful to have a discussion about the post with our Headteacher, please call Maria Major on 0208 870 4133. Please also take a look at our website, where you will be able to get a feel for the ethos of the school.
