Runnymede College is a private non-denominational British school in Madrid offering a British education to boys and girls of all nationalities from the age of two to eighteen. The education offered follows the British National Curriculum.

Founded as a private school in September 1967, the primary school was inaugurated in 1987, and since 1990, the whole School has been situated in La Moraleja, a residential estate 13 km to the north of Madrid.

The school is looking to recruit an outstanding Primary Teacher to join our KS2 team for September 2023.

We require a teacher who has experience and a history of excellent attainment in KS2. They should be enthusiastic and have high expectations of all pupils. They would be joining a committed team of teachers with high standards who want to continue to develop the quality of learning and teaching. Our children are bilingual, positive and eager to learn.

Successful candidates should:   

  • be highly motivated   
  • have a passion for education   
  • be an excellent classroom practitioner   
  • have experience of teaching the 2014 Primary Framework   
  • liaise with staff on transition to Prep School
  • have the ability to modify learning strategies to target the needs of individual students 
  • have high expectations of pupils’ effort and behaviour, and facilitate this with proven classroom management skills 
  • be organised and able to prioritise to meet deadlines 
  • develop and share schemes of work and resources
  • be motivated and use initiative to contribute to success of the department and school 
  • have the ability to work positively and successfully within a team   
  • organise educational visits, visiting speakers and activities that enrich pupils’ experience beyond the confines of a syllabus 


The successful applicant will have:

  • outstanding GCSE & A level results 
  • a good honours degree from a British University (2:1 or better) - Mathematics or Science background preferable but not essential
  • a PGCE or other qualified teacher status for Junior/Primary School
  • recent experience as a teacher at a school in the UK 
  • previous experience in an international school - desired not essential 
  • excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively and seamlessly individually and as part of a team
  • to be confident in using technology effectively in teaching and learning
  • native level English speaker but no knowledge of Spanish is required
