Job overview

Outwood Grange Academy is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and inspiring classroom practitioner with a real passion for ensuring progression for students in years 7 and 8.

Outwood Grange Academy, seeks outstanding applicants with integrity, imagination and energy for this rewarding role. We know that the key to great outcomes in GCSE and beyond lies in setting firm foundations in Key Stage 2 and 3. Pupils have had a turbulent few years in education and their experience of learning through these times will be varied. We want to ensure that the knowledge gaps of students joining our academy are addressed. We hope that you are the right person to join us on that journey.

We are an Outstanding rated, 11-18 academy based in the cathedral city of Wakefield, near Leeds from where the successful Outwood Grange Family was born; a Trust that has supported 41 schools across phases in the North of England. We have nurtured a school community that is welcoming and friendly, where students and staff can make excellent progress together, with a focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased attainment, achievement and social and emotional development.

We need your experience of transforming pupils’ lives through enabling them to achieve age related and beyond, through recreating a primary setting, to help us further improve our transition. We are looking for a teacher to focus their attention on year 7 and 8 students who access our Elevate Curriculum. Elevate is based on a Key Stage 2 model covering all core subjects. The consistency of one teacher for all subjects ensures our students are supported and assisted through the transition from primary to secondary. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the core subjects are essential. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’.

Applications are invited from experienced professionals who can promote the attainment and achievement of our students to ensure smooth transition between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3. Chances are you will be an experienced Primary teacher in Key Stage 2, perhaps a Primary Mastery Specialist or an experienced Year 6 teacher with knowledge and understanding of successful intervention approaches or an excellent Key Stage 3 teacher. You will certainly possess everything required to support our students and respond to their needs, which could involve anything from teaching classes to intervening with small groups of students. Needless to say, you will be an inspiring teacher with real vision and passion – and the drive and determination to make things happen for students who really deserve the best possible deal.
