Romania

Full Time, Fixed Term

Job overview

The International British School of Bucharest is a small friendly, community-minded school, located in the centre of Bucharest. As a COBIS, ECIS, & CIS accredited school, IBSB is a school with high teaching standards and a commitment to excellence in education. We undergo a three yearly BSO inspection, with our last ISI inspection report rating IBSB as Good to Outstanding across all areas. The student ability profile is above the UK national average, with excellent student behaviour and class sizes in mathematics below 20. Each year we have students accepted in Cambridge or Oxford and other top universities around the world as an indication the classes you will be teaching.

One of the best aspects of life at IBSB is the great team of staff you will be working with. Our staff are both professional and friendly, dedicated to teaching to a high standard, who when the day is done regularly head out together after work and away together on weekends and holidays. The standard of living in Romania for International teachers is very high, enabling out staff to live a good life, to save, and travel regularly. Eating out 3-4 times a week is a part of normal life at IBSB.

Romania itself is a wonderful country to live, with four seasons, including winter skiing less than two hours from Bucharest and a modern train system to get you there if you are not driving with friends. There are also beaches 2 hours from the city for a weekend getaway, with train connections available, and many beautiful parks to enjoy in the warmer months. The city itself has clean efficient public transport, including a metro, trams, and buses that make getting around the city easy and cheap.

In many ways IBSB is a dream school to work for, which is why staff turnover each year is generally less than 5%. So if you are looking for a good school to work for, with friendly staff and academically bright students, a clean safe city, with plenty of opportunity to travel on weekends and breaks, then this may very well be the school for you.
