Job overview

Are you excited by the idea of a new challenge? Have you been involved already in the work of the MathsHubs? This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding primary practitioner who has a real passion for Mathematics!

Outwood Grange Academies Trust are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to teach Key Stage 3 Mathematics. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who really wants to make a difference to the lives of young people. Our single goal is ‘Students First’ and you will be joining a strong team of professionals working to this sole aim.

Outwood Grange Academies Trust provides a high-quality learning and cultural environment that inspires and motivates children. Whether you are ambitious for progression or determined to be an outstanding classroom teacher, Outwood Grange Academies Trust is the place for you. Leadership development, succession planning and capacity building are major priorities for the Trust as this enables us to facilitate rapid progression for those who want to advance either in the classroom or at a leadership level.

You will be well supported by an experienced team of teachers and Directors as you work to raise attainment levels and offer an engaging curriculum experience. You will be working with a fully furnished and very carefully designed Scheme of Work, with diagnostic questions already created for you, conceptual understanding built into the scheme already, thinking deeper tasks to stretch the most able and lots of problem-solving and reasoning. The main focus of this scheme is that students learn the maths by discovering the rules for themselves. No tricks, no gimmicks! Beautiful, lovely maths! This is the product of five years of all teachers in mathematics across the Trust collaborating and contributing, inspired by the MathsHub’s learning and the MathsHub Shanghai teacher exchanges, one of which we hosted.

The Outwood Family of Schools affords opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools if desired. All staff are guaranteed a minimum of two hours’ CPD per week and a further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through our own network of teaching schools. Our Executive Director for Maths, Kathryn Greenhalgh, leads Yorkshire and the Humber MathsHub. This, as well as her work with the DfE, means that OGAT maths departments are helping to inform the development and mould the landscape of mathematics both regionally and nationally.

We have a great training package for teachers new to the Trust, from NQTs through to HODs which includes: Teaching for Mastery; Open Classroom events; Maths Matters; TSST; Reasoning at KS3; weekly professional development time and further programmes free through the Outwood Institute of Education. We invest in you, so you invest in our students.

To apply, please visit: www.outwood.com > Vacancies.

Closing date: Monday, 8 July 2019.

Outwood Grange Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.

About The Outwood Grange Academies Trust (OGAT)

Interim Chief Executive Officer: Lee Wilson

The Outwood Grange Academies Trust was born out of the success of Outwood Grange: a large school with 2,200 students, which has achieved record results for the last decade.

As one of the highest performing Family of Schools in the North of England, we have transformed education and outcomes across a network of 40 primary and secondary academies. Working closely together and sharing best practice, our schools do whatever it takes to ensure that every child, irrespective of starting point, can realise his or her full potential and unique talents.

Whether you’re joining us as a support staff member, an ECT, in a leadership position, and everything in between, we will invest in you and your development throughout your career.

By all working together, supporting and motivating each other, we believe we can raise current standards, and transform the lives of our students. If, as a Trust, we support you to help you reach your potential, we can help ensure all the children you teach will also reach theirs.
